Very interesting indeed to see all the interpretations of comfort. Much appreciated on hosting and good luck to everything.

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Erika - Yeah, lots of Zin in this tasting. Thats really interesting. I wonder why that is?

Tim - Grabbed a bottle of Lytton Springs this weekend. My description of your post - muscular but balanced, even though I pulled that out of my ass, if a pretty accurate statement. I loved it.

To anyone I forgot, I'm going to update it. I'm really sorry about that. So far I think there are 3 I missed.

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Oh, Joe, you forgot my post! http://wine-scamp.com/2008/...

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Joel, I cracked up reading your summary of my post. Yeah, Calgon, take me away. You'll find the more kids you have (I've got 2) the more you need this ritual. Note: the music helps drown out the chaos beyond the bathroom door. BTW, I'm having a great time over at OWC, thanks for all your efforts.

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Well done, Joel, and thanks for the thoughtful comments. As long as everyone else is hollerin' for a spot on the blogroll, why not count me in as well. I've taken care of that ever comforting reciprocation.

cheers,
McDuff

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Thanks for the great roundup Joel, amidst your chaotic world! The alcohol commenet was tongue-in-cheek though, for the record. Can't have people gettin the wrong idea about me here :P

I did think the quantity of Zinfandel reviews was a real interesting component of this theme as well! I wouldn't have guessed it.

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Thanks for the great round up Joel. I think I boiled all the oceans and seas today :) I'll echo Joe on the link request...Vivi's and WLT have been long standards in my link list, I've got to update and add OWC!

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Joe - I can't remember who I've added an not, especially since I move blogging platforms. I'll correct ASAP!

Thanks everyone for your inspired stories. It was lots-o-fun!

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Umm...since I won the wine illiteration award, does that mean I have to study up for my wine bloggers certification before I participate in another WBW?

Joel, many thanks for putting this together. And no apologies, you had some pretty wonderful and more important things going on. Congrats!

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Well done, Joel! Definably worth the wait.

Guess I'll have to check my bags on the way out west next month since I'll be packing a Prairie Fume for you. Last time I had it at the winery (10 years ago?) it was pretty nice... for Seyval Blanc ;-) Perhaps it's better now but it's in most stores here in MN.

Cheers!

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

I'm sure I won't be wishing I'd commented the code better as I expire - I'm saving that for next week!!! But I'll be making sure the cellar is damn near empty when the time comes!

Thanks for hosting and best of luck with all your new babies!

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Wow - great round up, and thanks for the kind words.

Now, if you wanted to repay the Dude for pouring out his soul... you could throw me a little bone & add my wine blog to the blog roll here... no rush, I'll be joining you (very) soon in the land of diaper changes and late-night feedings so understand if you are a tad busy these days ;-)

Cheers!

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Great wrap-up (and the video just made it even better)! This was a fun topic. Thanks again for hosting.

Re: WBW#43 Round-up: Comfort Wines!

Great post... you made me laugh and then feel kinda embarassed. When I wrote that line about "pre-children freedom" I had completely forgot that this whole WBW was inspired by your entry into parenthood and need for some comfort and relaxation amidst the chaos. Whoops!! :) That line was actually inspired by the fact that the day before I came home to a leak in our roof, dirty dishes, burnt dinner, laundry to be put up, and I thought... oh man, this is going to only get harder when we have kids.

Thanks for your inspiring subject and congratulations on the birth of your daughter!!

Marta
